Melandie Y. Hines, a dynamic community activist residing in Westland, Michigan, is vying for State Representative in District 25. Currently serving as a Trustee for the Wayne Westland Board of Education, Melandie is committed to preparing all students for success in society. A Wayne Memorial High School graduate, she pursued higher education in Criminal Justice and Business Management/Human Resources Management.
Melandie's dedication to public service extends to her role as a Representative for the Michigan Association of School Boards. Through her involvement, the Wayne Westland Community School District significantly increased its fund balance from 4% in 2013 to an impressive 20% in 2022, addressing funding gaps.
A devoted single parent to her son Elijah, Melandie's activism spans various roles, including Precinct Delegate, Election Chair for the City of Westland. She brings extensive experience, having served as Director of Contracting and Grants Management for the Inkster Housing Commission.
Melandie's community impact is further evidenced by her role on the Wayne County Women’s Commission, representing Westland. A mentor for the Champions of Wayne program, she is involved in various organizations, from the NAACP to Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, showcasing her commitment to positive change.
