Melandie Y. Hines, a dynamic community activist residing in Westland, Michigan, is running for State Representative in District 25. Currently serving as a Trustee for the Wayne Westland Board of Education, Melandie is committed to preparing all students for success in society. A Wayne Memorial High School graduate, she pursued higher education in Criminal Justice and Business Management/Human Resources Management.
Melandie's dedication to public service extends to her role as a Representative for the Michigan Association of School Boards.
Through her involvement, the Wayne Westland Community School District significantly increased its fund balance from 4% in 2013 to an impressive 20% in 2022, addressing funding gaps.
A devoted single parent to her son Elijah, Melandie's activism spans various roles, including Precinct Delegate, Election Chair for the City of Westland. She brings extensive experience, having served as Director of Contracting and Grants Management for the Inkster Housing Commission.
Melandie's community impact is further evidenced by her role on the Wayne County Women’s Commission, representing Westland. A mentor for the Champions of Wayne program, she is involved in various organizations, from the NAACP to Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, showcasing her commitment to positive change.

Hine's, successfully passed a $24.5 million Bond for the Westwood Community School District that Includes Dearborn Heights and Inkster in the 2023 Election.
Implemented a strategic plan, created a small team to do community outreach and successfully passed
$158 million bond in 6 communities; Wayne, Westland, Romulus, Inkster, Dearborn Heights, and Canton.
Raised several thousands of dollars fundraising to pay for literature for the Bond Campaign in 2018
Wayne Westland Community Schools Board member responsible for maintaining a balanced budget of over $160 million, managing 18 schools, over 10,300 students, 1,200 employees and working with 14 labor union contracts.
Executive Board of the 12 th Congressional District that represents the needs of our communities by lobbying for funding and resources.
Appointed to the Wayne County Women’s Commission who sits on the Skill Trade and Workforce Development, Housing, Education and Events Committee's.
2-year strategic planning program utilizing our community stake holders including our unions, parents,and district leaders with a laser focused plan for our districts future.
Representative of the Michigan Association of School Boards. MASB State of Michigan Certified School Board Certification Master Level.
